Good grief! This week ends our first four weeks of school and that means progress report time is next week. My, my, my!! This year is off to whiz-bang beginning! I hope you are doing what it takes to buttress your grades. If you are not buttressing your grades, what is keeping you from it? It is up to you to earn grades. Grades are not “given” – you folks in grades 10 and up know this but 9thgraders are still adjusting and learning.

Grade Level Chat
Seniors – now is the time to be deciding which college(s) or technical school(s) you plan to make application. Many have December deadlines for application and scholarships. Get with Mrs. Crosskno or Mr. Echols if you need help. They are our resident experts in all things college and career.
Please don’t think you HAVE to go to college or technical school. You don’t. But you do need to find some kind of work that will make you a productive citizen. If you don’t know what it is you can do or want to do, come visit with Mrs. Crosskno or me and we can help you find a pathway.
You’ll want to be sure and check out the Connections schedule on the 21st of this month. That will be the first time you’ll hear about FAFSA and scholarships, then October and following there will be more. It’s up to you to pay attention.
Juniors – it’s time for you to be focusing on your core classes. Doing your best in those classes will be the best thing you can do for your ACT score. (This will also boost your GPA - an added bonus.) It’s also time for you to begin exploring colleges and careers that interest you. Mrs. Crosskno and Mr. Echols are here to help you with that and so can Ms. Stonner.
Sophomores & Freshmen – you ought to focus on making the best grades you possibly can and getting involved in clubs and organizations. The most common regret I hear from seniors is wishing they had made better grades in 9th and 10th grade and wishing they had gotten involved. Learn from their mistakes and make the time to do what it takes to succeed. Need help with these things? Come see your counselor. Ms. Stonner is 10th grade counselor and I am 9th grade counselor. We are here for you!

Parting Thoughts
When you are deciding whether or not to do a thing, ask yourself “If not now, then when?”. It will help you make a decision.
